Traditional Care

The traditional butcher block was always end-grain because it lasted "forever". Today, we know it is also the healthiest choice.

These hand crafted end-grain maple cutting board will provide you with years of service. Because we base our selves after the traditional butcher block, you in turn have to treat your board with simple traditional care:

  • 1) Do Not let stand in water.
  • 2) Do Not put in dishwasher or micro-wave.
  • 3) Wash with damp soapy cloth.
  • 4) Remove fine lines with a medium steel wool
    and Re-Oil every few weeks. (mineral oil)

End Grain

End-grain' is what we see when we cut down a tree and look at the age rings of the tree. All the fibers are standing up which makes the board resistant to cut marks and saves your expensive knives from dulling prematurely. It is more labour intensive than an edge grain or face grain board when the fibers are laying flat and are scared by the knife.
